What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is a way to virtually connect a patient to their healthcare provider. The provider can remotely diagnose and treat patients by means of telecommunications technology.

Do I need special equipment?

Any computer, smartphone or tablet with text, video, and audio capabilities can be used.

Is it HIPAA compliant?

Yes! Using our Mend app you will register for a unique user ID and password which acts as a portal between the patient and Express Urgent Care.

What is the cost?

It is free to download the app. The visit itself will be billed to your insurance at our contracted urgent care rate as it would if you were being seen in the clinic.

What types of Urgent Care visits can be conducted with telemedicine?

  • Exams for respiratory conditions

    • Respiratory conditions including colds, flus, seasonal allergies and cough are among the most common reasons that patients seek urgent care. In most cases, they can be diagnosed and treated effectively via telemedicine.

  • Ear, nose and throat ailments

    • Problems that affect the ear, nose and throat such as sinus symptoms, earache and sore throat are good candidates for remote video visits.

  • Conditions affecting the skin

    • Hi-definition video capabilities make it possible to diagnose and treat certain skin conditions like, insect bites, rashes and skin infections effectively with telemedicine.

  • Other urgent, but non-emergency complaints

    • The range of cases that can be addressed with telemedicine is large and includes other complaints such as, conjunctivitis, upset stomach, diarrhea, urinary tract infections, and urgent medication refills.

Can I call in for my elderly mother or small child?

Of course, but remember that the patient MUST be present for us to interact with.

*We are unable to prescribe or refill controlled substances through a virtual visit*
